It’s amazing how busy everyone’s lives get these days. Work, hobbies, friends & family. Trying to balance things seriously becomes a one-handed juggling act. And I don’t juggle all that well with two hands. The husband and I try and find time to get out and just spend time just us, doing something fun.
One a recent Sunday Funday we decided to go and check out the George C. Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary. The property was originally purchased by George C. Reifel in 1927 and in the 60’s a bird sanctuary was built and named in his honour. Over 280 species of birds have been recorded here. It’s pretty neat to see that so many species of birds continue to come back here year after year. We walked through the trails for over an hour feeding different ducks and birds a long the way. I kept shaking the bird seed bag while saying “here ducky ducky”. Hoping they’d come running like our cats do for the treat bag. Jamie kept laughing at me too. But crazy enough after MANY failed attempts, 2 ducks flew out of the lake and straight for me! That’s right – just call me the duck whisperer.
I mean look at this mama and her cute little fuzzy babies! BUT don’t get too close because that mama charged at anything that got too close to her babies. Since we wanted to keep our limbs, we threw food in their general direction.
This is my husband Jamie feeding a cute little ducky.
And some geese. These guys would follow us as soon as they heard the feed bag. Some of them would come at us with their mouths already open. Pretty funny.
But seriously, there are thousands of birds there. These few iPhone pictures really don’t do it justice on how many birds we fed that day.
Alright, well I hope y’all are out and having some fun this weekend! Stay tuned for another edition of Sunday Funday soon!
